Russian Blue / Domestic Short Hair (short coat) Cat

JoJo the Cat needs a home

JoJo was just a tiny kitten when she was saved from death at the last minute at the county shelter. We could see that she walked a little funny and figured she must have had some sort of recent injury. The only thing we knew for sure was that such a sweet, affectionate, and beautiful kitty deserved a chance, and we made sure she got one.

JoJo went for an evaluation of the problem from the best rehab vet around. The vet was positive that although something...not nice had happened to cause such an injury to her spinal area, with some intensive therapy she should greatly improve. After all, she was young and had a strong will to live and be a healthy, rambunctious kitten.  She stayed at the animal hospital for several weeks receiving daily treatments of acupuncture and physical therapy.

The treatments were tremendously successful and now JoJo can walk and play just like a normal kitten. She absolutely adores all people and truly believes that she should be giving or getting affection all the time. Everyone at the animal hospital adores her, so much so that they have kept her there all this time trying to find a home for her.  Now, its been over eight months and JoJo is still searching for her home.

You see, despite being a normal kitten in every other way, JoJo has a special need that will require someone to express her bladder a couple times a day.  Ideally this would be morning, end of day, and before bedtime. The reason is that the injury to her spine affected her in such a way that her bladder doesn’t function properly.  This particular need isn't too uncommon and many pets live wonderful lives with caring human companions that are willing to give them this little bit of extra care. Really, expressing the bladder takes just a few minutes once you get familiar with it. Honestly, it’s a great excuse to spend a few quality moments together throughout the day. JoJo is not in any pain because of this injury, and it will not cause more problems down the road. JoJo has no idea anything is wrong with her, it’s all she’s ever known.

Up to now JoJo has spent her entire life in a cage. First at the shelter and now all these long months at the vet’s office. Kittens grow really fast, and need room to play, exercise, and generally be happy. Please, I’m begging you to think long and hard of any possibility you might know of for a home for JoJo.

She’s a stunning kitten with a dazzling personality, and let's be honest, people are crazy about Russian Blues!  You'd be forgiven for mistaking her coat for silk, and her scent is reminiscent of roses. Your life would brighten and your smile widen when you look up and see JoJo perched high above in a cat tree like an expensive ornament. Although she has been receiving amazing, wonderful care at the vet's office, she can’t live in a cage forever and frankly its already been too long!. Her kitten life is passing her by. She wants to run and climb and play and lay by your side while you do your thing at home.  She wants to sit by a window and look at the birds outside. JoJo would love to be out of the cage and out playing with other cats. She's befriended the office's resident pooch and so even dogs are okay for this cool cat!

If you don’t know anyone who might be interested in meeting JoJo, please forward this plea throughout your social circle. You never know who might see the email and JoJo’s photo and might want to learn more about her. You never know, maybe they have another kitten or dog that also needs to be expressed. Maybe they work around the veterinary field and have a level of experience where they aren’t at all concerned about her special need.

Special needs kitties like JoJo impart so much happiness and fulfillment to their companion's life and are well worth the teeny-tiny bit of trouble it might be to care for her. Truthfully, my heart is breaking thinking of her sitting, still, in a cage at the vet's office waiting for her special someone. We never imagined it would take this long to find her the loving home she deserves. Together, let's turn things around. Please help me help her. I know we can.
